Artificial intelligence (AI) is on the brink of reaching a new significant milestone. A team of researchers aims to develop artificial general intelligence (AGI), capable of surpassing human intelligence in various fields, by establishing a global network of ultra-powerful supercomputers. This project, led by SingularityNET, will commence in September with the launch of the first supercomputer specifically designed for this purpose.

AGI differs from current AI systems, which are limited to specific tasks, by promising intelligence capable of self-improvement through autonomous learning across various disciplines. To achieve this goal, SingularityNET is developing a "multi-tier cognitive computing network" based on cutting-edge components such as AMD Instinct processors and Nvidia L40S GPUs.

The supercomputers in this network will integrate advanced technologies like deep neural networks and large language models. These systems will mimic human cognitive functions while processing vast amounts of data. This infrastructure is designed to support the transition to AI capable of reasoning and dynamically modeling complex worlds, a significant leap toward "superintelligent" artificial intelligence.

This project is not only technological; it also relies on a sophisticated software ecosystem. OpenCog Hyperon, an open-source software framework, is designed to manage the distributed computing clusters required for AGI. This network, to which users will have access via a token system, enables secure data access while facilitating the evolution of AGI.

Predictions by influential researchers such as Ben Goertzel suggest that AGI could be realized by 2027, or 2028 according to other experts. This race toward AGI is also fueled by tech giants like Meta, who are heavily investing in infrastructure development to train advanced AI models.

SingularityNET, as a member of the Artificial Super Intelligence Alliance, aims not only to achieve this feat but also to make this technology accessible through a decentralized computing network, laying the foundations for the artificial intelligence of the future.
