Classification
Leur détermination nécessite la compétence de spécialistes et un microscope. Actuellement on connait près de 7 900 espèces décrites dans le monde et environ 2200 en Europe, mais il existe encore un très grand nombre de formes non décrites car de nouvelles espèces sont décrites régulièrement de par le monde. Des clés d'identification existent pour certains pays ou certaines régions du globe. Une clé mondiale d'identification est en cours de construction, accompagnée de cartes de répartition.
